A total of 50 boxes of the sandals, making up 5,000 pairs, are expected to be distributed to pupils in 50 selected schools in the district.
The first badge of distribution of the sandals was done on Monday for pupils of Obane, Luhuese, Azizanya, Ada Foah Roman, and Big Ada D/A Basic Schools.
Reverend Doctor Samuel Amatey, the leader of the local distribution team, Community Development Movement Group in Ada, disclosed that 18 boxes had been supplied, leaving 32 boxes to be distributed.
He added that he appealed for the sandals to help the children, as he always derived joy from such initiatives, adding that “as humans, we really need to show love to others in the society.”
He commended Access Bank for being the main sponsor of the project and the others for supporting it, making it possible for them to distribute sandals to many children in almost all the regions in Ghana.
“Individually, we support with transport, our time, and energy whenever we go to do distributions,” he stated.
He pledged his commitment to ensuring that they reached out to other communities in need to help more children get footwear to attend school and build their future careers.
He appealed to individuals, government agencies, and civil society organisations to support the initiative to put a smile on many pupils’ faces in the society.
The local distribution partners include representatives of a Community Development Movement Group in Ada.
