From an average performance of GH¢3,556.30 for each market collection in 2024, the assembly now averagely records over GH¢17,131.268 from each Market day revenue collection drive.

Mr. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi South, announced the development in an interview.

Mr. Dagba attributed the tremendous growth to the introduction of the assembly’s high surveillance initiative and the collective effort by staff and assembly members.

The indicators, he said, remained the highest so far since the establishment of the Assembly.

“We are committed to ensuring all traders and businesses using the Akatsi Market which is one of the largest markets in Volta and beyond obliged to the paying of market tolls and other legitimate financial demands.”

Mr. Dagba further explained that out of the 13 commission-based revenue collectors and the Assembly’s taskforce team, his outfit continued to seek assistance from assembly members who served on a rotational basis to aid in the revenue collection drive.

As of the end of July this year, Mr. Dagba said a total of Ghc 482,124.86 in revenue was accrued from the Akatsi market and expressed the hope that the target of more than Ghc 1.12 million for 2035 would be met.

He said the Assembly would continue its Revenue Sensitization and Mobilization drive within the area.

On development projects, Mr. Dagba also indicated that the Assembly would not hesitate to mobilize the needed resources within their mandate to improve some roads and tackle serious issues of concern.
