Ambolley, Daddy Lumba, others decorated at National Honours and Awards

Mr. Gyedu-Blay Ambolley and Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosu a.k.a Daddy Lumba, were recognised for their outstanding works at the 2024 National Honours and Awards held Monday, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The music legends together with Ms. Julliet Yaa Asantewa Asante, Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority (NFA), received the President's Grand Medal Award for their contributions to the Creative Arts industry.

Film maker, Mr. Kwaw Paintsil Ansah, and Mrs. Salma Salifu, businesswoman and fashion designer, were also decorated with the Order of The Volta (Member) Award.

Speaking to GNA, Mr. Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, thanked the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, for the honours and pledged to sustain the musical impact made over the years.

"It has been a long road and I am happy people recognise what we do...the State recognising my contribution to music in Ghana and the world is something I have to cherish.

"Every year, I keep coming with [new things] the Almighty God has endowed me with...I keep looking at Ghana and world to see what I'll be able to contribute so keep your ears open," he stated.

The "Adwoa Amissah" composer paid tribute to other music legends and urged other recording artistes to keep producing meaningful and timeless rhythms.

"Anything that they have been doing musically, they have to do it well...The world was created well so if we are going to contribute, we have to contribute well." he stated.

The National Honours and Awards celebrates creativity, innovation, excellence and hardwork of citizens who have rendered distinguished services to Ghana in various fields and careers.
