Ledzekuku Assembly conducts clean-up exercise ahead of Teshie Homowo festival

The Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly has organized a clean-up exercise in preparation for the upcoming Teshie Homowo Festival.

The initiative, led by the Hon. Presiding Member (PM), Mr. Samuel Kwashie Tawiah, who represented the Municipal Chief Executive, took place on Monday, 11th August, across the Akro East and Akro West Electoral Areas.

Key participants included Hon. Charles Ashie Kotey, Assemblyman for Agblezaa and Chairman of the Sanitation and Environmental Health Sub-Committee; Hon. Joseph Tetteh Nortey (aka “Walamantse”), Assemblyman for Akro East; and Awula Anita Ayorkor Adjetey, the Municipal Cultural Officer. Their collective efforts ensured widespread community involvement and a successful exercise.

The Hon. PM emphasized that the clean-up aims to promote environmental cleanliness and public health throughout the festivities while beautifying the municipality.

Hon. Charles Ashie Kotey noted that similar exercises have been ongoing in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda” on sanitation, reinforcing the commitment to a cleaner environment.

Awula Anita Ayorkor Adjetey highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness to attract tourists during the Homowo season, stating, “A clean environment enhances hospitality, leaving visitors with a positive impression that they will share with others.”

The exercise underscores the assembly’s dedication to fostering a hygienic and vibrant community ahead of the cultural celebrations.
