Healthcare in the district is currently delivered at both community and sub-district levels, supported by two health centres, one private orthodox clinic, and eleven Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds that complement primary healthcare delivery across various communities.

These facilities continue to play a vital role in providing essential healthcare services, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas of the district.

In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure, construction work is currently underway on a district hospital at Afransi under the Government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative, which seeks to expand and modernize healthcare facilities across the country.

Additionally, a new polyclinic is also being constructed at Abonyi with funding from the Government of Ghana, further strengthening access to healthcare services within the district.

Health stakeholders have described these ongoing projects as transformative interventions that will significantly improve emergency response, maternal care, and general healthcare delivery once completed.

The Gomoa Central District Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting health infrastructure development to ensure that residents have access to quality and affordable healthcare services closer to their communities.
