New dawn for girls' education as DCE cuts sod for dormitory

A major step forward for girls’ education in the Atwima Mponua District took place on April 1, 2026, as Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, the District Chief Executive (DCE), officially cut the sod for a new one-storey girls’ dormitory at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School.

The project, funded by GETFund, aims to improve access, safety, and retention for female students in the area.

More than just a building

In an emotional address, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim thanked President John Dramani Mahama for making the project possible. He noted that the new dormitory will reduce the burden on girls who currently travel long distances to school every day.

“This is not just the beginning of a building,” the DCE said. “It is the beginning of renewed hope – hope for safer accommodation, improved learning conditions, and a future where every girl can pursue her education without barriers.”

A boost for enrolment and retention

The DCE stressed that the project reflects a broader vision: ensuring that no child’s dreams are cut short due to a lack of infrastructure. He described the investment in girls’ education as an investment in stronger families, communities, and a more prosperous nation.

Hon. Issahak Ibrahim assured stakeholders that his office would work closely with contractors to ensure timely completion and high construction standards.

“Together, we will deliver not just a facility, but a legacy – one that will uplift generations and redefine possibilities for our young women,” he added.
