She made this appeal during her six-day community engagement and thank-you tour in various communities, including Achiase, Akronwi, and Adumasa.

Hon. Ohenewaa emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility, requiring the commitment of all citizens.

She noted that poor sanitation is a major cause of preventable diseases and stressed the need for communal action to promote hygiene and environmental health.

The MCE announced that the Assembly, in collaboration with the Environmental Health Department, has outlined specific areas for intensive cleanup activities, including market centers, lorry stations, and drainage systems.

She urged traditional leaders, opinion leaders, youth associations, and religious bodies to mobilize their members for active participation.

Hon. Ohenewaa warned that the Assembly would enforce existing sanitation by-laws against individuals and institutions that fail to participate in the monthly cleanup exercise.

The National Sanitation Day, introduced by the Government of Ghana, is observed on the first Saturday of every month.

The initiative aims to encourage voluntary community participation in environmental cleanliness and support the government’s goal of achieving a cleaner, healthier nation.
