The announcement was made by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Ahmed, during his keynote address at the grand finale of the Jospong Annual Thanksgiving Service 2025 in Adjirigarnor, Accra.

“Government is prepared to deepen its collaboration with Zoomlion Ghana Limited and its sister companies to build a nation where a clean environment, resilience, innovation, and widespread job creation are lived realities, not just future hopes,” stated Hon. Ibrahim Ahmed.

The Minister framed the partnership as essential to achieving core national objectives: enhancing local service delivery, generating youth employment, protecting environmental health, and advancing sustainable development. He reaffirmed the government’s belief in the critical role of the private sector, particularly in driving progress in sanitation and waste management.

Hon. Ahmed positioned the rise of Zoomlion as a landmark in Ghana’s modern history. “If the first wave was Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s liberation movement, and the second was the dominance of the Black Stars, then the third wave is Zoomlion’s expansion across Africa—a powerful symbol of Ghana’s growing influence and entrepreneurial spirit,” he noted.

A Model of Public-Private Success

The Minister pointed to tangible results from the existing partnership. He recalled a recent official visit to South Korea, where Ghana, alongside Morocco, stood out as a sanitation benchmark for Africa.

This international recognition, he explained, stems from the monumental infrastructure built through the collaboration: “36 completed composting, recycling, and waste treatment plants—the largest network of its kind in West Africa.”

He further revealed that this very infrastructure was instrumental in the United Nations’ decision to designate Ghana as the “Sanitation and Waste Management Hub for West Africa” in 2025.

Concluding his address, Hon. Ahmed underscored Zoomlion’s foundational role in the nation’s development. “Our national discourse on environmental sanitation, public health, the green economy, or modern governance is incomplete without acknowledging the transformative contribution of the Jospong Group and Zoomlion. Their work is indispensable to our collective progress.”\
