Date Created : 4/27/2026 : Story Author : Rufina Yuoni/Ghanadistricts.com
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Alfred Zuuri, called for an inclusive governance process and intensified revenue mobilisation to reduce the Assembly’s dependence on central government transfers, thereby enhancing its capacity to deliver on its mandate to citizens.
Mr. Zuuri commended the hard work of heads of departments, agencies, development partners, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the district’s development.
He emphasised the importance of Assembly meetings in reviewing key performance indicators, assessing challenges, and strategising across critical sectors, including finance, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and social services. He noted that significant progress had been made through collaborative efforts..jpg)
The DCE particularly praised management staff for achieving a 57.6 per cent increase in the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF) revenue in the 2024 fiscal year, exceeding its target.
He also provided a breakdown of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) received for the first three quarters of 2025, as well as updates on GETFund projects underway in communities such as Pamdu, Chirehin, and Krutakyi.
Mr. Zuuri spoke about the distribution of “nkokonketenkete” under the Feed Ghana Programme, a presidential initiative in agriculture and agribusiness. He also highlighted ongoing rural electrification projects benefiting several communities.
He added that the Executive Committee’s report included recommendations for approval by the General Assembly to drive future development. These include developing a strategic plan to assess and gradually evacuate all refuse dump sites across the district; fully briefing the Assembly on the DRIP machines and their operations; and taking steps to provide furniture for Jema Senior High School.
“Let us put aside our differences and focus on the common goal of improving the welfare of our people,” Mr. Zuuri urged, encouraging open, constructive, and solution-oriented discussions among stakeholders.
Assembly Retains Presiding Member
The Assembly also retained the incumbent Presiding Member, Mr. Salifu Albert Pimbo, who went unopposed and secured 33 votes in favour, with one rejected ballot and one vote against.
