Massive clean-up exercise heralds ‘meko bono’ festival in Atebubu

Organized by the Atebubu traditional council in conjunction with the municipal assembly, the exercise mainly involved the desilting of choked drains along the principal streets and cleaning of the central business district.
‘Meko Bono’ is an annual gathering of people of Bono descent with the objective of fostering unity, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the people and promoting development.
Addressing the people after the event, the Omanhene of the Atebubu traditional area, Ohenpong Dr. Yeboah Asiamah thanked participants including the Omanhene of the Dwan traditional area and his people for the massive turnout.
He used the opportunity to invite all and sundry to patronize the festival which will climax next Saturday to make it a success.
The Atebubu-Amantin municipal chief executive Hon. Masud Musah Ayarba Thomas said plans have been put in place to ensure the security of the large number of people expected at the festival.
Activities outlined for the celebration include sporting activities, trade shows, cultural displays, beauty pageant and a grand durbar.
