This was contained in an executive committee report presented by Mr. Samuel Oscar Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE), at the ordinary meeting of the first session of the fifth Assembly at Agona Nsaba.
Mr. Mensah said funds had been released by government for the project, while the Assembly awaited architectural designs to begin construction soon.
He noted that government had provided adequate resources to award new contracts, with priority also placed on completing all abandoned projects initiated by the previous administration.
The DCE said more than 300 farmers had been registered under the Feed Ghana policy to boost food production and improve livelihoods. He added that government planned to invest in oil palm, rice, vegetables, and other crops to enhance the district’s economy.
On revenue mobilisation, he disclosed that the Assembly would build a new abattoir at Kwansakrom to resolve a demarcation dispute with the Agona West Municipal Assembly, secure boundaries, and improve revenue collection. Plans were also advanced to procure a new pick-up vehicle for revenue collection and inspection of building projects.
The report further recommended the erection of barriers at Mankrong-Junction and Agona Duotu, and the relocation of the Agona Duakwa barrier to include all drivers plying the route, as part of measures to improve revenue generation.
Mr. Mensah added that the Assembly had completed processes to fast-track the gazetting of its by-laws and fee-fixing resolution.
On security, he said the Assembly would liaise with the Ghana Police Service to secure additional personnel to strengthen operations. Security agencies, he noted, would also partner the Assembly to clamp down on narcotic centres at Mankrong-Junction and its environs.
The Assembly Members unanimously approved the 2025 annual budget estimates to support infrastructure development and improve livelihoods.
