The launch, held in Accra, forms part of the Ministry’s broader digital transformation agenda under the national vision of building a modern, secure, inclusive, and technology-driven public sector.

Three weeks ago, the Ministry introduced the first phase of its digitalisation drive; a centralised e-recruitment portal for all Security Services.

The system, expected to be operational on Monday, December 15, 2025, has streamlined recruitment processes for agencies including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Immigration Service.

It provides real-time updates, secure online and mobile access, and a transparent, fair recruitment process.

The Minister said the new portal would strengthen Government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance public service delivery.

He said it also directly supported the agenda to create a responsive and citizen-centred digital economy, ensuring that critical services were accessible, transparent, and professionally administered.

“For many years, the Ministry has provided a wide range of critical services that underpin national security, public safety, migration management, business operations, and the protection of citizens’ rights,” Mr Muntaka said.

“However, these services have traditionally relied on manual, paper-based processes, which slowed delivery, created administrative bottlenecks, and placed undue burdens on applicants. The new Digital Services Portal directly addresses these challenges,” he said.

The portal hosts three core categories of services. The first one being Citizenship and Migration Services such as Immigrant Quota Permits, Renunciation of Ghanaian Citizenship, Dual Citizenship Applications, Registration as a Citizen, Naturalisation, and Registration of a Minor as a Citizen.

These have all been fully digitalised to simplify applications, reduce processing time, strengthen identity verification through National Identification Authority integration, and provide real-time updates from submission to approval.

The second category covers Security and Regulatory Services, including Licensing of Private Security Organisations, Permits for Import or Export of Explosives, Arms and Ammunition, Licensing of Pistols, Granting of Auctioneer’s Licences, and Permits for Key Cutting.

The Minister said by digitalising those services, the Ministry would enhance transparency in compliance procedures, improve national monitoring mechanisms, and strengthen oversight of materials and activities essential to national security.

The third category comprises Specialised Services such as the Exportation of Dead Bodies, which had also been fully digitalised to streamline documentation, ensure accurate verification, and eliminate delays, especially for families dealing with sensitive and emotionally challenging situations.

Mr Muntaka said the digitalisation initiative would make services more convenient and accessible by allowing citizens to apply from any location at any time.

It would also promote transparency through built-in tracking features, enhance data security through integration with national databases, improve revenue assurance via secure automated payments, and strengthen national security through real-time digital records and monitoring systems.

He commended the strong collaboration between the Ministry, security agencies, and technical partners, whose efforts made the achievement possible.

The Minister encouraged the public, the private sector, the diaspora community, and international partners to make full use of the new platform.

He assured the public of the system’s robustness and security against cyber threats, which would be continuously monitored to safeguard privacy, data integrity, and service reliability.
