The training, at the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, brought together 40 participants from various communities within the municipality.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to equip PWDs with practical and employable skills to enhance their economic independence, improve their livelihoods and reduce their vulnerability to poverty.

Participants received practical training in pastry production, yoghurt preparation and fruit juice production, facilitated by experienced resource persons.

The Head of the Assembly’s Business Advisory Centre (BAC) also took participants through basic business management, financial discipline and marketing strategies to equip them with the knowledge needed to establish, manage and sustain their businesses.

Speaking at the workshop, the Municipal Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Mrs Joyce Owusu, urged participants to apply the skills acquired to improve their livelihoods and become economically self-reliant.

She reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting PWDs and encouraged them to take advantage of available government interventions designed to promote their welfare and economic empowerment.

The training was attended by Mr Nicholas Mensah of the Ghana Federation of Persons with Disabilities in the Kwadaso Municipality; Hon. David Asare, Convener of the Social Services Sub-committee; Mr Peter Yaw Kwarteng, a representative of the Blind Association; Mr Emmanuel Asumadu, a representative of the Deaf Association; and staff of the Social Welfare Department.
