The engagement, led by Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ransford Owusu Boakye, signaled a shift from traditional regulatory oversight toward a more collaborative approach between local government and industry stakeholders.

"We Need Everyone On Board"

Addressing operators at the meeting, MCE Owusu Boakye struck a conciliatory tone, urging industry players to view the Assembly as a development partner rather than merely a regulatory body.

"The Assembly will need everybody on board in order to rebrand Koforidua and its environs for economic and tourism purposes," he stated.

The hospitality sector remains a cornerstone of the municipality's economy, providing critical accommodation services for visitors, creating employment for residents, generating income for local businesses, and enhancing the area's appeal as a destination.

Balancing Responsibilities and Concerns

While emphasizing partnership, the MCE did not shy away from reminding operators of their civic obligations. He called on them to promptly settle taxes, fees, and other legitimate revenues due to the Assembly as their contribution to municipal development.

Open Forum Addresses Key Challenges

The engagement provided a platform for stakeholders to voice pressing concerns affecting their operations. Sanitation issues and deteriorating road networks emerged as primary challenges hampering business growth in the area.

Management responded with assurances of action on both fronts, describing the dialogue as "a step towards building a stronger partnership between local government and the hospitality sector."

Looking Ahead

The Assembly's proactive outreach reflects growing recognition that sustainable development requires active collaboration with key economic drivers. As Koforidua positions itself for increased tourism and investment, the hospitality industry stands ready as a vital partner in the municipality's transformation agenda.
