Pru East : Gov't Must Support Zongo Youth, Grant Zongo Community Fund – New Mossi Chief

The newly enskinned Mossi Naaba of Parambo Sawaba No. 1, Umar Ahmed, has called on the government to assist Zongo youth in getting jobs and to grant the community the Zongo Community Fund.

He also pledged to work to develop the community as soon as possible, promising Sarkin Fuseni Issahaka, the Zongo chief of Parambo Sawaba No. 1, that he would prioritize the area’s development.

Ahmed made the call after his enskinment on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the forecourt of the Parambo Sawaba No. 1 Zongo chief’s palace.

The ceremony was attended by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Pru East, Hon. Dauda Abdul Nasir; the Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam; and the Mossi Naaba of Kwame Danso, who is also Vice Chairman of the Council of Mossi Chiefs.

Speaking after his installation, the new Mossi chief emphasized that maintaining internal peace would allow the traditional administration to collaborate effectively with state authorities, boost local economies and improve livelihoods.

He stressed the need for unity and loyalty, saying peace within the community was essential for attracting development and improving the lives of residents.

The DCE and the MP urged the new chief to promote peace, unity and loyalty, and to look beyond internal differences and historical factions to bring the people together. The Kwame Danso Mossi Naaba also advised him that true authority comes from serving the people, and urged him to address youth unemployment, local infrastructure and skills development.

Enskinment is a highly revered customary rite practiced by Northern Ghanaian ethnic groups and related societies, including the Mossi (Moshie) people. During the ceremony, the appointed chief is formally installed by being seated on an animal skin, signifying official acceptance by the ancestors and the community.
