Ejisu Municipal Assembly Kicks Off 2026 with First Ordinary Meeting

The Ejisu Municipal Assembly has held its first ordinary meeting of the third session of the ninth assembly, gathering at the municipal assembly hall on May 20, 2026.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Jerryne Asante delivered the sessional address, joined by Hon. PM Helena Mensah and Municipal Coordinating Director Samuel Badu Baiden.

School Furniture Rollout Under "Furniture for All" Policy
Hon. Asante highlighted the assembly's 2025 achievements, particularly aligning with the president's vision to equip schools under the "Furniture for All" policy. The assembly procured and distributed:
* 1,500 dual desks for public primary schools
* 1,973 mono desks for public junior high schools
* 1,500 mono desks for senior high schools
* 150 office furniture sets for basic school teachers
* 10 octagon furniture sets for kindergarten schools

Total cost: Over Gh?2.25 million. The education directorate oversaw equitable distribution across beneficiary schools.
New Classroom Projects Underway

Two major construction projects are in progress:
* A 3-unit JHS classroom block with ancillary facilities at Domeabra (estimated Gh?700,000)
* A 6-unit primary classroom block with ancillary facilities at Ejisu Model Basic School (valued at Gh?1.56 million).


Health Sector Gains
The assembly supported several health initiatives, including breast cancer awareness, yellow fever vaccination, and measles vaccination. A joint cervical cancer awareness and screening campaign was carried out by the health directorate (in partnership with Ejisu and Juaben health directorates), the GES directorate, NCCE, and NGO Save Our Souls.

Two CHIPS compounds are also under construction at Hwereso and Timeabu to improve healthcare access in hard-to-reach communities.
Agricultural Boost

The agricultural sector saw significant gains:
* 10,000 birds received and distributed to interested persons
* 78 out of 151 agrochemicals distributed to support crop protection for farmers

Government Interventions
* LEAP beneficiaries have received their payments
* 289 LEAP households are being validated to determine exit or enrollment of new members
* 47 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) received support in health, education, and startup trading funds.

Infrastructure & Sanitation
Other achievements include timely waste collection and disposal, grading of community inner roads, desilting of streams, and culvert repairs at Acquaviva School. Additionally, 25 mechanized boreholes were constructed across the municipality.
Looking Ahead

Hon. Asante noted that the assembly achieved all this with just 61% of its internally generated funds. She pledged to improve revenue generation to fulfill developmental promises to the citizenry.
