According to Assembly officials, the initiative forms part of the district's broader development agenda aimed at enhancing connectivity between farming communities and major market centers. The rehabilitation works are expected to focus on feeder roads that have become difficult to use, particularly during the rainy season.
District authorities indicated that poor road conditions have long affected the movement of cocoa, food crops, and other agricultural products, resulting in increased transportation costs for farmers and traders. The planned intervention is therefore expected to boost economic activities and improve access to essential services.
Speaking at a development planning meeting, Assembly officials stressed the importance of investing in road infrastructure to support the district's largely agrarian economy. They noted that improved roads would help farmers transport produce to markets more efficiently while also facilitating access to schools, health facilities, and other public services.
The Assembly further stated that road improvement projects would be carried out in collaboration with relevant government agencies and local stakeholders to ensure sustainability and maximum benefit to residents.
Community members have welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that the rehabilitation works will address long-standing transportation challenges confronting many rural settlements.
The Bia West District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing infrastructure projects that promote socio-economic development and improve the living conditions of residents throughout the district.
