Hon. James Agalga is a Ghanaian lawyer and politician who represent the Builsa North Constituency in the Upper East Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Born on 10 June 1979 in Chuchuliga in the Upper East Region of Ghana, Hon. Agalga pursued his tertiary education at the University of Ghana, where he obtained an LLB (Hons) degree in 2002. He subsequently attended the Ghana School of Law, obtaining his Bachelor of Laws (B.L.) in 2004. In 2018, he furthered his education with a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Conflict, Peace and Security.

Before entering active politics, Hon. Agalga built a career in the legal profession. He served as an Associate at the Centre for Public Interest Law and worked as a Barrister at NDEZEB Law Consult. He also served as Managing Partner of Law Temple from 2008 to 2013.

Hon. Agalga has had extensive experience in Ghana's Parliament. During the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, he served on the Committee on Members Holding Offices of Profit, the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, and the Appointments Committee.

He later became a member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic, representing the Builsa North Constituency. During the administration of former President John Dramani Mahama, following the administration of the late President Prof. John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, Hon. Agalga served as Deputy Minister for the Interior.

Prior to his elevation to the leadership (Majority Leader) of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, he served as Deputy Ranking Member of Parliament's Defence and Interior Committee, bringing considerable parliamentary and security-sector experience to his leadership role.

Hon. James Agalga is a Catholic and has established himself as a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, with a professional background combining law, parliamentary affairs, conflict resolution, peace and security.
