Safety and peace is needed for improved wellbeing within any geographical location. security within the District is ensured by the District Security Committee (DISEC) comprising; the District Chief Executive, the Police Service, the Immigration Service, the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI), the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Customs and Excise Preventive Service (CEPS) and the Prison Service.
The District Security Committee is charged with the responsibility of formulating plans to combat crime within the district and to take actions it deems fit in time of security threats to forestall peace within the District. As a proactive measure in ensuring the safety of the people, there is the need for multifaceted approaches including the formation of watch committees in communities to aid the security agency (police) in the combating crime in the District.
The district has a police to citizen ratio of 1:669 making the district one of the best in the region. Crimes such as robbery, petty theft and stealing, assults among others are the commons ones happening in the district. Land litigation cases as well as child neglect are however on the rise thereby calling for planning and streghening of social structures in the district
