The industrial sector constitutes the second important sector with respect to employment and incomes both small and large scale (18.4%). The district has small-scale cottage industries like palm oil extraction, akpeteshie distilling, soap making, gari making and kente weaving (Nsutem, Barniekrom, Nyinanufu, etc.)

There are brick and tile factories at Biemso II and Mankranso. There are timber industries in and around Mankranso, and Nsuta. These activities have contributed to the high percentage of the industrial contribution to the district economy. The informal sector is under developed. This has been identified as a major cause of youth unemployment and rural urban migration.

Service Sector

The service sector constitutes 11.6% of the labour force. It is made up of Public Administration and Defence, Education, Transport and Communication, Hotels and Restaurants, Health and Social work, artisans and others.

Commerce

The commercial sector forms 6.8% of the total labour force. It comprises the wholesale and retail trade, financial intermediaries, renting and business activities. Women are mostly engaged in petty trading, subsistence farming and marketing of food crops.

The low levels of literacy and skills do not allow women to either improve their opportunities or even move to the formal sector. In Ahafo Ano South West District, there are four (4) weekly markets. These are in Kunsu, Adugyama, Pokukrom and Sabronum. However, these markets do not have adequate infrastructure. There are also small daily markets in other communities such as Mankranso, Wioso, Domiabra and others.
