NGOs

Relationship of District Assembly with Other Institutions and Organizations


There are a number of other institutions and organizations who work in collaboration with the Assembly towards the development of the district. They include public institutions, traditional authorities, multilateral and non-governmental and private business organizations.


Some of the public institutions include the Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana Highways Authority (GHA), National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) and Ghana Telecom. The traditional authorities (Chiefs) also play an important role in the development of the district. They are very instrumental in mobilizing resources for community development.


Important government programmes, multi-lateral and non-governmental organizations operating in the district include the European Union (EU), CWSA, World Vision Ghana (WVG). The Association of People for Practical Life, Centre for Rural Enterprise development (CRED), SEND foundation. SPGE/ILO Decent Work Programme,Village Infrastructure Project (VIP). There are currently about six (6) NGOs operating in the district on different programmes.
