In a call for collective action, the MCE stressed that all persons occupying unauthorized spaces—including roads, walkways, and pavements—must vacate immediately to restore the free flow of pedestrians, vehicles, and goods.
“This exercise is for our collective safety and interest, not to punish anyone,” Halidu stated. “Your cooperation is vital to improve public order, reduce accidents, and build a cleaner, safer Nkawkaw for everyone.”
He emphasized that the Assembly has already conducted extensive public sensitization and had previously delayed enforcement following appeals from traders during the Christmas season. With the Easter period approaching, Halidu made it clear that no further extensions would be granted.
“Now is the time for action. The Assembly will not entertain any requests for delays because Easter is coming,” he affirmed.
The MCE also announced plans to rebuild the Central Market to modern standards, describing the project as non-negotiable. He cautioned residents against politicizing the decongestion effort or other development projects, warning that such divisions would only hinder the municipality’s progress.
“The welfare of Nkawkaw and the entire municipality remains my top priority,” Halidu said. He also commended local security services for their role in maintaining safety and order.
Residents are urged to cooperate with the Assembly to ensure the long-term growth and improved livability of Kwahu West.
