During his visit, the Mayor promised a winning bonus of GH¢1,000 to each member of the team and technical staff—an amount that could exceed GH¢300,000 if Kotoko triumphs in the Week 30 Ghana Premier League fixture.

He also donated $1,000 to support the club’s preparations.

The mayor, accompanied by his aide and fellow Kotoko fan, Francis Dodovi, emphasized the importance of the match, describing Kotoko as a key symbol of Asanteman and Otumfuo’s legacy.

He called on the players to rise to the occasion and deliver a victory that would make their supporters worldwide proud.

“Every Kotoko supporter is backing you in prayer. Go out there and win,” he urged.

Kotoko Team Manager Henry Ohene Brenya expressed gratitude on behalf of the team, while Interim Management Committee Chair Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua reaffirmed the club’s goal of securing 18 points from their remaining matches—including Sunday’s encounter.

As it stands, Kotoko sits 4th on the league table with 50 points, just three behind the leaders. Hearts of Oak follow in 7th place with 42 points.
