The project, described as Accra’s first modern AstroTurf mini-stadium within the municipality, marks a major step toward enhancing sports infrastructure and youth development in the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Baba Jamal described the initiative as the “heart of Nima” and his first major project since assuming office. He pledged to deliver a world-class facility that will serve as a signature project for the community. He further assured that contractors will receive timely payments to avoid delays and disclosed that the project is expected to be completed and commissioned within a maximum period of 12 months.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, noted that the demand for a standard and modern sports facility has been a major concern raised by residents since his appointment.

“Since my appointment as MCE, one of the key issues consistently brought to my office is the need for a standard, modern stadium in our area. The community has strongly advocated for this facility,” he stated.

He added that the Assembly is committed to transforming the existing pitch into one of the best mini stadiums in Ghana, emphasizing that the facility must meet the standards required to host Premier League matches and other major sporting events.

The proposed 1,000-seater AstroTurf stadium will include modern features such as high-quality finishing, VIP access, safe spectator routes, and will be fully operational both day and night. The facility is expected to be capable of hosting both local and international matches.

Both the MP and the MCE stressed the importance of quality delivery, urging the contractors to execute the project to the highest standards without delays or excuses.
