Ningo Prampram unanimously confirms DCE nominee; elects PM

The Ningo Prampram District Assembly witnessed an event of great importance on Friday, 9, 2025, with the confirmation of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee, Raphael Uriel Nartey, and the election of the Presiding Member (PM), Ebenezer Narh Addo.

The democratic processes that underpin Local Governance in Ghana were on full display as proceedings unfolded at the District Assembly Hall.

The event commenced with an opening address by Mrs. Vida Awuku, the Coordinating Director of the assembly. In her welcome speech, she set the tone for the elections, emphasizing the importance of the roles that were about to be filled.

 The assembly members and government appointees were duly acknowledged, and the roll call confirmed the presence of all twenty –two (22) elected Assembly Members from various electoral areas and ten (10) Government Appointees. This quorum ensured that the elections would be representative and legitimate, reflecting the will of the people.

 Hon. Samuel Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram and Minister for Communication and Digital Innovations, delivered a keynote speech that resonated with the assembly members.

He recounted the assembly's history of producing one-time DCEs during confirmations, in previous elections and encouraged the current assembly members to replicate this feat. His words carried weight, given his experience and involvement in the constituency's development.

The elections were characterized by unanimity, as Hon. Ebenezer Narh Addo was elected as the Presiding Member with 100% of the votes cast. A trained Accountant, assembly member for the New Ningo Electoral Area and the NDC’s Consistency treasurer, Hon. Addo's election reflected his colleagues' confidence in his leadership abilities.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Addo expressed gratitude to his fellow assembly members for their trust and promised to work closely with them to bring about the desired development in the district. He pledged to be accessible and responsive to the needs of the assembly members and the people they serve.

Hon. Raphael Uriel Nartey's confirmation as District Chief Executive (DCE) was the highlight of the event. With a unanimous vote of 100%, he was entrusted with the political leadership of the assembly.

As a trained teacher and Director of Elections for the NDC in the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Hon. Nartey outlined his vision for the district, focusing on infrastructure, education, agriculture, sanitation, and sports development. He emphasized the importance of collaborative leadership and partnerships to drive progress in the district.

The swearing-in ceremony, witnessed by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Akweley Ocloo and officials from the Regional Coordinating Council, The chiefs from the two traditional areas were present, adding a layer of cultural depth to the event.

The election of Hon. Ebenezer Narh Addo as Presiding Member and the confirmation of Hon. Raphael Uriel Nartey as DCE marked a new chapter for the Ningo Prampram District Assembly.

Both leaders have expressed their commitment to working together to drive development in the district. The assembly members and the residents of the district welcomed the new leadership team, looking forward to the implementation of their vision for the district's development.

The event concluded with the Greater Accra Regional Minister reiterating the government's commitment to supporting the assembly's development efforts.
