Local Government Ministry sets up 7-member Committee to vet MMDCEs

As the President John Dramani Mahama led government continues to appoint persons to various portfolios, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religions Affairs in collaboration with the Office of the President, and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress has constituted a seven (7) member Committee to vet candidates from the various Districts for the position of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for appointment by the President.

The Committee comprises the following

Johnson Asiedu Nketia - Chairman

i) Hon. Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey - Member

ii) Hon. Dr. Valerie Sawyer - Member

iii) Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda - Member

iv) Hon. Cletus Averkah - Member

v) Hon. Emmanuel Kwesi Bedera - Member

vi) Hon. Naa Momo Lartey – Member

The Terms of Reference for the Committee includes;

i) Vetting of CV's and other documents of candidates

ii) Conducting interviews for candidates

iii) Undertake background checks on candidates

iv) Select the most suitable candidates in order of merit

v) Make recommendations to H.E. the President to appoint the most suitable candidates to the position of MMDCEs.

Meanwhile, the Committee is expected to start work on 6th February, 2025 and has one (1) month to submit its final report to the President for further action.
