A resource person, Mrs. Esther Apraku Nyarko, the Kumasi Metro Director of Social Welfare Department, educated participants on the rights of women and the need for gender equality as enshrined in the Ghanaian Constitution and the Affirmative Action Law.

Mrs. Apraku also discussed the Affirmative Action Bill, which ensures a quota for women in government appointments. She emphasized that women’s equality is rooted in intellect and contribution to national development, encouraging women to persist in overcoming setbacks and pursuing their dreams with confidence.
Miss Charlotte Ama Boadi, the Ampenim District Manager for Cargill and President of Cargil Women’s Network, shared her personal journey of overcoming adversity to reach her current position.

She encouraged women to never settle for less and to rise above challenges. She also facilitated a discussion on challenges women face in farming, where participants stated financial constraints and household responsibilities.

Participants from the different groups including the males present promised their commitment to join in the action for accelerating gender.

Mrs. Doreen Asumang Yeboah, praised the participants for their insightful contributions and urged all stakeholders to continue empowering women for the progress of society. She quoted Dr. Aggrey: “If you educate a man, you educate a person; but if you educate a woman, you educate a whole nation.”
She expressed appreciation to ClientEarth and UKaid for the support.

The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of accelerating action toward gender equality, and the commitment of every individual to support and uplift women.
