Asutifi North unveils DRIP equipment

Asutifi North District Assembly inaugurates the District Road Improvement Programme on the 10th September 2024, to help improve conditions of roads in the district.

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Anthony Adjei Mensah stated that the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo thought it wise that, it is best for government to provide road equipment’s for all districts and municipalities across the country, so they fix its town roads in the communities when needed.

‘There is a committee in charge of DRIP in the district, which comprises of the DCE (Chairperson), District Coordinating Director (Secretary), District Engineer (Rep. for Local Government Minister), and other two members selected by the DCE, which will ensure the smooth and effective running of the equipment’ he added.

Mr. Samuel Badu Baiden (District Co-ordinating Director), emphasized on the importance of the equipment’s to the district and called for the effective collaboration among stakeholders. Moreover, he tasked the 15 residents who are trained for the use of the equipment to work hard for the success of the programme.

In his address, Patrick Banor, Member of Parliament for the area emphasized on the good work and policies initiated by the Government and the creation of jobs by the programme.

He tasked the trained workers to work diligently to support Government for more developmental projects in the district. He outlined a timely and fair distribution of machines and tracking systems which have been installed to monitor the usage of the machine in the district.

He therefore described the DRIP as unmatched and unparalleled initiative in Ghana’s history.

The representatives of the three Paramount Chiefs within the district expressed their contentedness and satisfaction to see such initiative and urged residents not to politicize the programme but rather come together and make DRIP aimed its purpose.

They pledged their commitment to make DRIP beneficial to promote economic growth in the district and to sustain and maintain the equipment to make the programme a success.

The DRIP equipment which was handed over by Mr. Agyei Yaboah Regional Coordinator of DRIP on the 26th August included grader, backhole, roller, truck, and water tanker.
