He pointed to recent trends in key economic indicators, particularly the rate of inflation and the performance of the Ghanaian cedi against major international currencies, as evidence of what he believes are positive developments under the current government.
According to him, improvements in these economic indicators could provide some relief to households and businesses that have been grappling with the rising cost of living, high operational expenses and other economic challenges. He noted that a stable economic environment is essential for restoring public confidence, encouraging investment and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.
Mr. Brako, who was speaking in an exclusive interview with Ghanadistricts TV at the Eastern Expo in Koforidua, also emphasised the importance of translating improvements in the broader economy into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens. He explained that economic progress should ultimately be reflected in more affordable goods and services, improved access to essential amenities, increased employment opportunities and better living conditions for people across the country.
He further expressed optimism that sustained efforts by the government to stabilise the economy would create a favourable environment for development at the local level. According to him, municipalities such as Birim Central stand to benefit from a stronger national economy through improved business activities, increased investment and enhanced opportunities to implement development initiatives that respond to the needs of residents.
The MCE's commendation underscores the importance of sound economic management in supporting the government's broader development agenda. He maintained that continued attention to economic stability, infrastructure development and social welfare would be crucial in ensuring that the gains recorded at the national level translate into meaningful improvements in the lives of Ghanaians.
Mr. Brako's remarks also highlight the need for sustained collaboration between the central government, local authorities and other stakeholders to consolidate the progress made and address the remaining challenges facing the country.
He expressed confidence that with sustained policy implementation, prudent economic management and a commitment to inclusive development, the country could make further progress towards improving living standards and building a more resilient economy.
His comments come amid ongoing public discussions about the performance of the economy and the government's efforts to ease economic pressures on households and businesses. While acknowledging the significance of movements in inflation and the exchange rate, the broader impact of these changes will ultimately depend on how effectively they translate into lower living costs, stronger purchasing power and improved economic opportunities for citizens.
