Mr Totimeh, together with the Tema West Member of Parliament, Mr James Enu, welcomed new pupils to school at the Aggrey Road Basic School as part of activities to mark the ‘My First Day at School’ initiative.

The MCE said the Assembly had distributed essential learning materials to pupils in four public schools to help reduce the financial burden on parents and support children as they began their formal education.

He explained that the provision of exercise books, crayons and other educational supplies, together with light refreshments, was intended to ease some of the costs borne by families while motivating pupils at the beginning of their academic journey.

Mr Totimeh said the enthusiasm, performances and warm reception displayed by the pupils during the visit demonstrated the immense potential of children in the municipality, which required sustained investment in education.

He assured residents that several educational projects were progressing steadily, noting that the stalled Lashibi Government School building project was now about 85 per cent complete and was expected to be completed and handed over before the end of the year.

The MCE also disclosed that the Assembly would begin the immediate fencing and securing of public-school lands from the following week to prevent further encroachment by private developers.

He further said the recent distribution of school desks by the government had significantly addressed seating shortages and replaced damaged furniture in several schools across the municipality.

Mr Totimeh stressed the importance of exposing children to practical skills alongside academic learning from an early age, saying such an approach would help prepare them for diverse career opportunities beyond traditional office-based jobs.
