The market women expressed frustration over the lack of a proper drainage system, which has left them stranded whenever it rains.

With the rainy season in full swing, flooding has rendered large sections of the market unusable, disrupting trade and endangering livelihoods.

During his tour of the market, the MCE witnessed the extent of damage, including flooded walkways, dilapidated roofing sheets, and worn-out market sheds in urgent need of repair.

He also interacted with butchers at the abattoir, where workers requested the renovation of the old facility, citing that the newly built structure is “not fit for purpose.”

One of the key stops during the tour was the abandoned toilet project, initiated under the “One Million per Constituency” initiative. The MCE expressed disappointment at the state of the facility and pledged to complete and commission the toilet for public use without further delay.

Following his assessment, He instructed the Assembly's Works Engineer to urgently develop a plan to:
Replace all damaged roofing sheets
Commence work on a comprehensive drainage system
Evaluate renovation needs for the abattoir
Finalize the completion of the toilet facility
He assured the traders of his unwavering commitment to transforming the Keta Market into a safe, accessible, and thriving business hub.

The MCE's proactive leadership continues to earn the trust of the people, one community at a time.
