DCE cuts sod for expansion and upgrading of St. Martin de pores hospital

The District Chief Executive of Ellembelle Kwasi Bonzoh has performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the expansion and upgrading of St. Martin de Pores Hospital at Eikwe, a community in the District of the Western Region.

The 14 million (14,000,000) Ghana cedis project which is being financed by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) as part of its Corporate Social Investment Strategy was made possible through a memorandum of understanding signed between GNPC and the Ellembelle District Assembly.

When completed, the project which is a prototype District Hospital will upgrade the 60 year old St. Martin de Porres hospital from its current status of a Primary Hospital to a Secondary and a Teaching Hospital.


The contract was awarded to Messrs. Ausbuild Construction Limited with prior approval from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) and is expected to be completed within 12 calendar months.

Present at the sod cutting ceremony were the Nana Kofi Amihere III, Divisional Chief of Eikwe, Dr. Kwame Amoa Baah-Nuako, General Manager, Sustainability and Stakeholder Relations of GNPC, Kingsley Asante, Principal Officer, General Services GNPC, Kofi Ayivor, Senior Officer GNPC, Edward Ohene, Event Officer GNPC, Thomas Pinto, Consultant, Design Rite, Jonathan Ato Kobbie PRO, Austin Mills, CEO Ausbuild Construction Limited, Francisca Shaida Mensah, Administrator and Edward Okraku, also Administrator GNPC, Dr. Paul Cooper.


The rest include Medical Superintendent of St. Martin de Porres Hospital, Rev. Fr. Eric Elliason, Diocesan Director of the Sekondi Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church, Alhassan Saaka, Ellembelle District Works Engineer and Mr. Michael Appiah-Acheampong, the District Planning Officer of the Ellembelle District Assembly.
