Denkyembour Assembly Distributes Free Fertilizer to Farmers to Boost Agricultural Productivity

The Denkyembour District Assembly has distributed free bags of fertilizer to selected farmers across the district as part of government efforts to support agriculture, increase food production, and improve the livelihoods of farmers.

The exercise, which took place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the forecourt of the Denkyembour District Assembly, was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) and brought together beneficiary farmers, officials of the Assembly, personnel from the Department of Agriculture, media representatives, and other stakeholders.

The initiative forms part of the government's broader strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector by providing critical inputs to farmers, reducing production costs, and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

The fertilizer support programme is expected to boost crop production during the current farming season, enhance food security, and contribute significantly to economic growth within the district.

The distribution process was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner under the supervision of officials from the District Assembly and the Department of Agriculture. Beneficiary farmers were duly verified to ensure that the fertilizer reached the intended recipients.

Many of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government and the District Assembly for the timely intervention, noting that the support would help reduce their financial burden and enable them to cultivate larger acreages during the 2026 farming season.

According to the DCE, the provision of essential farm inputs such as fertilizer remains a strategic intervention aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, improving household incomes, and strengthening food security across the district.

He urged beneficiary farmers to utilize the fertilizer responsibly and strictly for its intended purpose to maximize the benefits of the intervention.

The DCE also encouraged farmers to adopt modern farming techniques and assured residents of the Assembly's continued collaboration with relevant government agencies to implement programmes that promote agricultural growth and improve rural livelihoods.
