The achievement was announced during the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Sixth Assembly held at Abokobi on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
The meeting brought together Assembly Members, heads of departments, government appointees, and stakeholders to deliberate on key developmental issues and assess the Assembly’s performance.
Presenting the sessional address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Edmund Agboh, disclosed that the Assembly exceeded its revenue target by generating more than GH¢16.8 million, representing over 108 percent of the projected figure and a 33 percent increase over the 2024 performance.
According to him, despite several challenges, the Assembly successfully implemented 91.6 percent of its planned activities in 2025, reflecting prudent resource management and commitment to effective service delivery.
The MCE further revealed that the Assembly received over GH¢20.5 million from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), representing a significant increase compared to previous allocations.
On security, Hon. Agboh noted that the municipality remained largely peaceful throughout 2025, although concerns relating to illicit drug abuse, violent crimes, fire outbreaks, and land guard activities were recorded in some communities.
He explained that the Assembly collaborated closely with security agencies and the Narcotics Control Commission to intensify sensitization campaigns, particularly in areas such as Taifa, Haatso, cemeteries, and the Abokobi Lorry Station.
The Assembly also highlighted major infrastructure interventions in the education and health sectors, including classroom rehabilitation projects, maintenance of streetlights, and rehabilitation works at the Haatso Maternity Clinic.
Hon. Agboh further announced that a contractor has been engaged to complete the Ga East Municipal Assembly Conference Hall to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen public engagement.
In the roads sector, the Assembly undertook grading, pothole patching, and drainage construction works in communities including Dome, Kwabenya, Taifa, Ashongman, Haatso, and Abokobi to improve accessibility and reduce flooding.
The MCE also outlined several social intervention programmes implemented in 2025, including public sensitization on child protection, teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, and drug abuse, which reached thousands of residents across the municipality.
Additionally, more than 60 persons with disabilities reportedly benefited from educational and financial support through the Disability Fund.
On health and sanitation, the Assembly carried out cervical cancer awareness campaigns, mental health sensitization, tuberculosis education, school deworming exercises, clean-up campaigns, desilting of drains, fumigation, and food safety inspections.
Looking ahead, the Assembly announced ambitious plans for 2026, including the construction of classroom blocks at Abokobi Presby and Kwabenya Atomic Basic Schools, rehabilitation of roads under the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP), expansion of drainage systems, and the rollout of the 24-Hour Clean Ga East Programme.
The Assembly also plans to digitalize revenue collection systems and strengthen entrepreneurship support through the Business Advisory Centre to enhance local economic development.
Hon. Edmund Agboh called for stronger collaboration among Assembly Members, traditional authorities, development partners, and residents to accelerate development and build a resilient and prosperous municipality for future generations.
