The visit aimed to address pricing concerns and operational challenges with members of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.

The engagement is part of the government's broader initiative to ensure fair pricing, protect consumers, and restore order within the vital auto parts market.

Hon. Ofosu-Adjare directly appealed to the dealers to reflect the recent strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi in their prices, assuring them of the government's sustained dialogue with sector stakeholders. In response, the Dealers Association leadership confirmed that some price adjustments had already been made.

They highlighted, however, a significant ongoing challenge: the activities of middlemen who inflate costs and mislead customers, undermining market transparency.

For his part, MCE Frank Nkansah reaffirmed the municipal assembly's dedication to supporting traders and improving market infrastructure. He outlined concrete measures to alleviate congestion and improve accessibility at Abossey Okai.

A key announcement was the plan to operationalize a designated car park along the Agbogbloshie stretch by the first week of February 2026. This initiative is designed to decongest the market area and enable vehicle owners to transact business directly with shop operators.

The Trade Minister commended the dealers for their cooperation and called for continued collaboration to foster a fair and well-regulated market environment. Hon. Nkansah further assured traders of the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to partner with all stakeholders to bolster local commerce and drive economic development in Ablekuma Central.
