The monitoring exercise, which took place on 6th and 7th May 2026, was conducted alongside the Municipal Director of Agriculture, the Presiding Member, and Agricultural Extension Agents as part of efforts to assess the impact and success of the programme.

The team visited several beneficiary communities, including Asubone, Okra Gyei, Manso Hyidiem, Dobidi, Asikam, Asakraka, Atibie, Besease, Praso No.1, Praso No.2, Asantekrom, Aboagyekrom, Attiobikrom, Adontengkrom, Yerenkyikrom, Twenedurase, Obo, Bepong, and Mpraeso.

During the tour, the team interacted with farmers and inspected poultry farms to evaluate the growth and management of the birds distributed under the programme. Reports from the inspection revealed that most beneficiaries had successfully reared their birds to maturity, largely due to the continuous technical support and guidance provided by Agricultural Extension Agents.

The MCE commended beneficiaries for their dedication and commitment to the programme, noting that the initiative has the potential to improve livelihoods, create employment opportunities, and strengthen local poultry production within the municipality.

Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu David also encouraged farmers to begin exploring viable markets for the sale of their birds and advised them to reinvest the proceeds into expanding their poultry businesses.

According to him, the long-term goal of the programme is to empower local poultry farmers, reduce the country’s dependence on imported chicken, and promote self-sufficiency in poultry production.

While expressing satisfaction with the overall performance of many beneficiaries, the MCE urged a few farmers who were lagging behind to intensify their efforts and make effective use of the opportunity provided through the programme.

The Municipal Director of Agriculture reiterated the importance of regular monitoring and technical support in ensuring the sustainability and success of the initiative.

The Akukor Nkitinkitin poultry programme forms part of broader government efforts aimed at boosting local agriculture, promoting food security, and supporting economic empowerment at the community level.
