The programme aimed to equip farmers with practical knowledge and skills to ensure adequate and nutritious feeding of their animals during the dry season, when pasture and other natural feed resources are often scarce.

The training provided an opportunity for farmers to learn about alternative sources of animal feed, proper feed storage and preservation methods, as well as the preparation of nutritious feed using locally available materials. These practices are expected to help farmers sustain their livestock and reduce the cost of production.

Participants were also encouraged to adopt improved livestock management practices, including the provision of clean drinking water, proper housing and regular monitoring of the health of their animals to enhance growth and productivity.

The collaboration between the Municipal Assembly, MoFA and the CSIR–Animal Research Institute forms part of efforts to strengthen livestock farming and improve the livelihoods of farmers through the adoption of modern and sustainable agricultural practices.
