The government plans to repurpose the underused Terminal 2 by physically linking it to the overcrowded Terminal 3.

Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe, presenting the plan to legislators on January 13, at the Public Account Committee hearing highlighted the imbalance: "We often face heavy congestion at Terminal 3 during evening peak hours, while Terminal 2 remains relatively underutilised."

The 2026 priority project involves building a connecting concourse. This will enable the two terminals to operate as a single, integrated facility, sharing international passenger traffic.

The outcome will be a revitalized, multipurpose Terminal 2 capable of handling both domestic and international travelers, dramatically improving the overall airport experience.
