Akrofuom District Assembly Elects new Presiding Member

Hon. Edward Peprah, Assembly Member for the Akrofuom East Electoral Area, has been elected as the new Presiding Member of the Akrofuom District Assembly.

In an election conducted by members of the Assembly, Hon. Peprah secured 12 out of 18 valid votes cast, representing 67 percent of the total votes. His contender, Hon. Emmanuel Obeng, Assembly Member for Ampunyase Electoral Area and former Presiding Member, obtained 6 votes, representing 33 percent.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Peprah expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to work diligently to promote unity and accelerate development within the district. He further assured members of his commitment to an open and inclusive administration that will encourage collaboration among all stakeholders.

The election process was supervised by the District Officer of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Ms. Awagele, who outlined the rules governing the voting exercise prior to its commencement.

Before voting began, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Gariba Mustapha Mohammed, urged Assembly Members to consider competence and elect a Presiding Member capable of effectively steering the affairs of the Assembly for the benefit of the district.

Also present at the event were the District Coordinating Director, Mr. David Kofi Dokli, and His Lordship Kofi Owusu Sekyere, the Obuasi Magistrate Judge, who administered the oath of office to the Presiding Member-elect.

Hon. Peprah’s election marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Akrofuom District Assembly, with expectations high for continued progress and effective governance.
