According to these drivers, the bad nature of the road has negatively affected their business as a chunk of their weekly sales are spent on fixing their vehicles.

They however, believe the situation could improve if the contractor expedites work on the GHs 195 million project, which will cover over 23 kilometers.

The project, which commences from Dome Roundabout in the Greater Accra Region, through Berekuso and ends in Kitase, both in the Eastern Region includes a 16.3km two-lane single carriageway with asphaltic concrete surfacing; a 2.8km asphaltic concrete surfacing dual carriageway arterial with auxiliary lanes on both sides for drop off/pick up; and a one-km two-lane single carriageway for Ashesi University, also with asphaltic concrete surfacing.

Meanwhile, some commercial drivers who spoke in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, following our visit to the project site, expressed their frustration and anger at the delay of work on the project.

He bemoaned the amount of money spent on buying new tires, shocks and other spare parts due to the bad nature of the road.

They also appealed to the government to redirect its attention to the project to ensure its timely completion.
