The furniture comprises 600 dual desks and 40 hexagonal desks procured through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). The presentation took place at the Assembly forecourt as part of efforts to address inadequate furniture in schools and provide pupils with a more conducive learning environment.
Receiving the furniture on behalf of the Education Directorate, the District Director of Education, Madam Christiana Azure Ayinzoya, expressed appreciation to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. John Millim Nabwomya, and the Assembly for the intervention.
She disclosed that 22 schools would benefit from the first phase of the distribution. She added that other deserving schools would be considered when the Assembly receives the next consignment of 600 dual desks.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Nabwomya urged heads of beneficiary schools to develop a strong maintenance culture to prolong the lifespan of the furniture. He encouraged school heads to use their capitation grants to maintain the desks whenever necessary.
Heads of beneficiary schools were present at the Assembly forecourt to receive their allocated furniture and arrange transportation to their respective schools.
The intervention forms part of the Talensi District Assembly’s commitment to supporting quality education and improving school infrastructure across the district.
