Two NHIS offices in Bono Region commissioned

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Chief Executive, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye has commissioned two newly constructed office complexes in the Bono Region.

The beneficiary districts are Dormaa East and Jaman North which are evidence of the government's commitment to make the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) more accessible to all residents in Ghana.



At a brief ceremony to unveil the building and operationalize NHIS activities in the districts, the Dormaa Akontanim, Barima Tabiri Kumih Achaeaw II expressed his gratitude to the NHIA and pledged to monitor the proper management of the edifice.


Dr. Okoe Boye reiterated the need for chiefs to encourage people to sign up for the NHIS as its Benefit Package has been expanded to cater for the health needs of all.

He further stated that, “Ever since the introduction of the Sunshine policy, where payments to providers are published, reimbursements to suppliers such as the pharmaceutical companies have been regularised with a significant increase in monies released to them.”


Declaring the Jaman North and Dormaa East district office officially open, Dr. Okoe Boye indicated that “I am happy that over 95 percent of the population here are members of the NHIS which is a good sign that the people of Bono region have taken healthcare delivery seriously.”


The introduction of MyNHIS App and the Mobile Renewal short code *929# is to afford people the opportunity to comfortably sit in their homes, register and join the Scheme"Present at the event was the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene, the District Chief Executive of Dormaa East, Emmanuel Kojo Agyeman, some traditional leaders and other major stakeholders.
