Date Created : 4/27/2026 : Story Author : Mary Ayertey/Ghanadistricts.com
The projects, inaugurated on Monday, April 27, 2026, form part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare, education, and access to safe drinking water across the district.
The Minister was accompanied by the Mayor of Tamale, Abubakari Adam Takoro, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Abdulai Imoro Gong, and was warmly received by the District Chief Executive for Tolon, Seidu Braimah, along with traditional authorities and residents.
Key projects commissioned include two Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Yipelgu and Waribogu Kamonayili, a mechanized borehole at Nangbagu, and a Kindergarten block at Nyankpala St. Monica.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ali Adolf John described the projects as critical interventions designed to meet the pressing needs of the people. He noted that the CHPS compounds would greatly improve access to primary healthcare, especially for women and children, while reducing long-distance travel for medical services.
He emphasized that access to quality healthcare remains a fundamental right and a priority for government, adding that investments in community-level health infrastructure are key to national development.
On water access, the Minister highlighted the importance of the borehole at Nangbagu in promoting good health and easing the burden on residents—particularly women and children—who often travel long distances in search of potable water.
Touching on education, he underscored the value of the newly commissioned KG block, noting that early childhood education is essential for building a strong academic foundation. He reiterated government’s commitment to expanding educational infrastructure nationwide.
In his welcome address, Hon. Seidu Braimah expressed appreciation to the government for the trust placed in him and revealed that the projects were funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), demonstrating prudent use of public resources to address community needs.
He also thanked the Regional Minister and other stakeholders for their continued collaboration and assured residents that more projects are lined up for commissioning in 2026 to accelerate development in the district.
The Regional Minister further linked the projects to broader national initiatives, including the 24-hour economy policy and the Big Push infrastructure agenda, aimed at driving socio-economic transformation and creating opportunities across the country.
Residents of the beneficiary communities welcomed the projects with gratitude, describing them as timely and impactful interventions that will significantly improve healthcare delivery, water access, and educational outcomes.
The commissioning marks a major milestone in the Tolon District’s development journey and reinforces government’s commitment to inclusive growth and improved living standards in the Northern Region.
