The project seeks to provide reliable access to clean and safe drinking water to communities including Anyako, Konu, and Seva.
Mr. Gakpey, during the visit, said the project involved laying new pipelines from Anyako Kpota to Seva, a distance completed within four months, describing it as a remarkable achievement considering the usual challenges associated with such projects.
“The visit is to assess progress and ensure completion as scheduled because residents of the beneficiary communities are eagerly waiting the commissioning of the project in the coming months,” he said.
He noted that the project fulfilled a long-standing promise and urged residents to appreciate the commitment of the John Dramani Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to improving lives.
Mr. Gakpey said water scarcity had been a major challenge in Anyako for decades, and the completion of the project would bring relief to residents and neighbouring communities by providing potable water with ease.
“NDC is a listening party; we understand the plight of our people. Water, they say, is life, and we are poised to provide water to every community that needs it to survive and improve lives,” he added.
Mr. Seade on his part commended the contractors for their dedication and urged them to complete the project to the highest standards within the stipulated timeframe.
He said the water project was not only vital infrastructure but also a significant boost to the health and well-being of residents, stressing that access to clean and safe drinking water was a fundamental human right.
Mr. Seade, a former assembly member for Anyako, said the project’s commissioning would mark a historic milestone in the Keta Municipality and serve as a model for other communities.
He urged residents to support the initiative, exercise patience, and allow the contractors to complete the work successfully.
Mr. Maxwell Asigbui, a resident, expressed gratitude to the government, MP, and MCE for their efforts and thanked all individuals who contributed to the project’s success.
He described the project as a testament to collective effort and responsive leadership, adding that Anyako had lacked a sustainable water supply for decades.
Mr. Asigbui also acknowledged previous efforts by the NPP leadership and Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, Paramount Chief of Amugo-Vego Traditional area, for commissioning a mechanised 60,000-litre water project worth GH?320,000 at Anyako-Konu in 2023.
He said the earlier supply was insufficient, and the new project would bring great relief to residents, including students and farmers who rely heavily on water for daily activities.
Other residents of Anyako, Konu, and Seva expressed excitement about the project and looked forward to its commissioning, which they said would end their water woes and improve their quality of life.
They commended the MP and MCE for inspecting the project, describing it as a clear indication of the government’s commitment to meeting their needs.
