The initiative is aimed at improving access to safe and reliable water for residents, particularly in underserved areas of the municipality.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paulina Akabila, reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring the provision of quality water for the people of West Akim. She noted that the project forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to deliver on key development priorities of the Government of Ghana.

Construction of the boreholes is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, with completion expected within one month.

Residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their appreciation to the government and the Assembly for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. They also appealed for more development projects to further improve their living conditions.

In a related development, the Assembly also performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a bridge on the Bunso community road. The project is expected to enhance transportation, improve connectivity, and facilitate economic activities within the municipality.

The twin projects underscore the Assembly’s commitment to improving both water access and infrastructure development in West Akim.
