Mfantseman Assembly celebrates historic renovation, gov’t praised for major upgrade

The Mfantseman Municipal Assembly in the Central Region has marked a historic milestone with the commissioning of its newly renovated assembly hall the first major upgrade since its establishment in 1947.

The hall now boasts full air-conditioning, significantly improving comfort and the working environment for assembly members and staff.

The renovation was spearheaded by the Municipal Chief Executive Eric Stanley Acquah, popularly known as Mfantseman KK. He initiated the project by rallying support from individual assembly members and securing funding through the assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

This pioneering renovation has drawn high praise from key stakeholders, including traditional leaders.

The Omanhene of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, Okogyeman Okese Essandoh, who blessed the ceremony, commended Hon. Acquah for demonstrating exemplary leadership by delivering what has never been done since the assembly’s 1947 founding.

Assembly members and the Presiding Member expressed heartfelt gratitude to MCEand the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for facilitating this landmark development.

They recognized it as a turning point in the assembly’s history that sets the tone for further infrastructural improvements.

In his remarks during the event, Mr. Acquah thanked the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, for his trust and support. He noted that this renovation, achieved in just a few months of his leadership, is the first major progress in nearly eight decades.

“This is only the beginning,” he declared, outlining ambitious projects on the horizon, including the establishment of a 24-hour market, new educational facilities, enhanced health service infrastructure, and sanitation improvements aimed at uplifting the municipality.

He called on all assembly members to unite behind this development agenda, emphasizing collective effort as essential for the growth and progress of Mfantseman.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of H.E. President Mahama and Member of Parliament Dr. Ebenezer Prince Kojo Arhin to resetting the development trajectory of the municipality.

In addition to the government-led initiatives, philanthropist Mr. Ernest De-Graft Egyir donated furniture and tables to support the assembly’s operations, further contributing to the improved working conditions.

This major renovation marks a significant step forward, reflecting the government’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure and governance for the people of Mfantseman, paving the way for sustained progress in the municipality.
