UPDATE: NALAG Elections currently underway

Elections are currently ongoing as the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) looks to elect new persons to steer affairs for the next two years.

In all, about one thousand five hundred (1,500) delegates from 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies are expected to cast their ballots in an election which is being supervised by officials from the electoral commission.

Some positions that are currently up for grabs include President, 1st vice, 2nd vice, trustees, national treasurer and women’s caucus.

Some contenders vying for the positions include; Alfred Asiedu Adjei (Paa Joe); president, Michael Ahwireng National second vice, Citizen francis Tetteh; Trustee, Nana Samuel Essel Bediako; Trustee, Patrick Kwame Frimpong; first national vice, and Philomena Opoku Asare as National Treasurer.

Meanwhile, the 22nd biennial national delegates’ conference of NALAG in Sunyani is still ongoing at the K.Nsiah-Gyabaah auditorium at the Sunyani Technical University.

The theme for this year’s event is: “empowering local governance: A new dawn for electoral area development.”
