Islamic SHS Tutor in Kumasi Elected Presiding Member

Mr. Evans Antwi Agyei, a tutor at Islamic Senior High School, Abrepo Junction, Kumasi, has been elected as a presiding member of the Ahafo Ano South East District Assembly in the Ashanti Region.

He was overwhelmingly endorsed by all 31 Assembly Members to secure the two-thirds of the majority in an election held on Wednesday, April 8,2026. supervised by the Electoral Commission.

The incumbent presiding member (PM) and assembly, Mr. Ishmael Agyemang Duah filed his nomination for re-election but later withdrew for race, allowing Mr. Antwi Agyei to contest unopposed.

In his acceptance speech, the new Presiding Member thanked the Assembly Members for confidence, resposed in him and pledged to be impartial and to uphold the assembly standing orders and work hard for the development of the District.

Earlier, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Nelson Yamba Issaka Ibrahim, in his keynote address, had pleaded with the assembly members to ensure a PM was selected from the meeting to ensure rapid development.

In attendance were the District Chief Executive(DCE), the District Coordinating Director, the electoral officers, the magistrate, assembly members, heads of departments, and security personnel to observe the electoral process.
