Asunafo N elects a new presiding member, confirms Mr. Joseph Akparibo as MCE

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Mohammed Alhassan Yakubu seized the occasion to welcome all present to this important gathering.
He entreated all Assembly Members to cooperate to have a successful program.
Firstly, Dzifa Azumah(Mrs, Esq) Magistrat of the Goaso District Court, sworn in the 13 members nominated as government appointee's for the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly.
The members took the oath of office, oath of secrecy and the oath allegiance of the Assembly and the requirement of Ghana as the law establishes. After this they were all confirmed as government appointee.
Furthermore, Mrs Vivian Yeboah , the Municipal electoral officer conducted the election by opening nomination for the priciding member position. After opening of the nomination, Mr. Asiedu Enoch single handedly filed nomination for the preciding member position. Mr. Asiedu Enoch, a retired teacher and an appointed Assembly member attained 40 votes representing 95.2% of the votes to climb to the position of the Preciding Member.
Mr. Asiedu Enoch after he took oats and was sworn in, he thanked the entire house and asked members to rally behind him in the discharge of the duties of the preciding member.
The Ahafo Regional Minister, Mrs Charity Gardener advised Assembly Members to vote massively to confirm the President's nominee so as to speed up development in the municipality.
She was quick to add that failure to consider the said nominee by Assembly Members would delay developmental projects' in the constituency.
The Regional Minister said Mr. Joseph Akparibo played an instrumental role to make NDC win in the Constituency during 2024 presidential and Parliamentary general elections. She added that, the president's nominee should be confirmed with massive number by voting 'yes' for a one touch confirmation.
After the voting exercise and confirmation, Mr. Joseph Akparibo attained 42 votes representing 99.9%.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected and confirmed MCE was full of joy after the voting result had been announced by the Asunafo North Director of Electoral Commission.
He thanked President H.E John Dramani Mahama, the Regional Minister, the Member of Parliament and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress for the confidence reposed in him and assigning him as the MCE for Asunafo North.
He also thanked Assembly Members for voting massively to confirm his nomination as MCE for the said Municipality.
According to him, he would continue to supervise day -to-day activities of the Asunafo North Assembly to ensure effective implementation of government’s policies and programmes.
He pledged to work in connection with the Assembly Members and others relevant stakeholders. He also asked for unity and peaceful collaboration between his office and all other stakeholders to bring development to the people of Asunafo North.
The programme saw the Regional Minister Hon Charity Gardener, Hon. Mohammed Haruna-MP, Asunafo North,Regional Chief Director-Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, Municipal Coordinating Director-Mohammed Yakubu Alhassan,Heads of Department, Assembly Members, Security Officers, Nananom, Religious leaders and NDC party faithfuls.
