Background

The Tema Metropolis was created from the erstwhile Tema Municipality in 2007 with the promulgation of Legislative Instrument (LI) 1929. In 2012, the KponeKatamanso SubMetropolitan Council was carved out of the Tema Metropolis to establish the KponeKatamanso District. The Tema Metropolis has three Sub-Metropolitan Councils namely;Tema West, Tema East and Tema Central.
